Over 50 crappies caught and released under one tree! Binh ended up with a “crappie thumb” after catching so many. Nonstop action on the Kalin’s Triple Threat Grub in the electric chicken color on a 1/16 oz. jighead and crappie minnows. Check out the action from yesterday’s outing!

A quick lunch at the Farmington Steakhouse followed by a fun trout fishing adventure on the Vermillion River with my buddies Ed and Matt Doth of Mahigan Outdoors! On this trip, we caught several rainbows and I hooked into a fish of a lifetime only to lose it when it went airborne. Talking to my guide we estimated the monster brown trout to be over 20 inches. A healthy and beautiful fish! Next time I am going to land this fish.

Last minute outing to the river on Sunday, February 19th to wrap up the 2022 fishing season. Slow day but we caught about a dozen bass, 2 carp and a buffalo. A tug-of-war battle with a carp that ended up being my biggest carp to date! We didn’t get a measurement but estimating close to 30 inches and between 15-20 lbs. Pulled drag and gave a tough battle! A big credit to my cousin and the best net man Binh. A fun memorable season!

A nice warm-up on Sunday, January 15th got the smallies into a little feeding frenzy! Nonstop action for a good couple hours. A few fish caught on tubes, blade bait, mostly live bait. Biggest of the day was 20″ at 4.2 lbs. as shown in this video. Fun day! Check out the video and photos below.

Smallmouth craze! Today might have been our last open water outing but if it is it sure was a great way to end a phenomenal season. Binh and I made another visit to the Mississippi River in Monticello. Nonstop smallmouth action for a good couple hours and then gusty winds blew debris downriver ultimately effecting the bite. Here are a few highlights from this morning’s action. Until next season… tight lines!

What an epic day on the river with Mahigan Outdoors! My cousin Binh Nguyen and I caught and released well over 30 feisty brown bass including a pair over 20 inches, 5 fish over 19 inches as well as many others on the Mississippi River near Monticello. Matt put us on the spot, it almost felt like a fishing frenzy for awhile! Video is currently in production. A fun day of tournament action! Gary Engel and I ended up with a 12.13 lb. bag and a 2nd place finish. Felt good with the outcome even though it was our first time fishing this lake.

A couple hours to spare this morning, I worked a tree stump and hooked into a big bass on a chatterbait. Binh followed up with a spinnerbait and hooked into another big bass in the same spot. An overall great outing and a few pike landed also!

Always a good time with this guy! Conditions were ideal yesterday evening and many fish made it to the boat including a 20 incher. Mainly a jig bite along the weedline and brushpiles.
