Nam Nguyen’s passion for fishing began at the age of four when he caught sunfish using worms. Over the years, he has spent countless hours on the water, learning the habits of fish, their habitats, and what it takes to successfully catch them. He has fished across numerous lakes, rivers, and streams in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Canada, with his favorite spots including Lake Kabetogama, Rowan Lake, Big Turtle Lake, Lower Manitou Lake, and Eagle Lake. In recent years, he has developed a keen interest in canoe and kayak fishing.

In 2014, Nam earned 1st place in the Minnesota Kayak Fishing Association’s Biggest Bass Tournament. The following year, he placed 2nd in the Minnesota/Wisconsin KBF State Challenge Series. His success continued in 2016, when he finished 3rd in the North Central GL September 2016 KBF RCS, which earned him a spot in the 2017 Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship.

Nam’s photographs have been featured in several notable publications, including In-Fisherman, North American Fisherman, BoatU.S. ANGLER Magazine, Bass Club Digest, and various newspapers and catalogs. He was also interviewed on the Dakota Prairie Outdoors radio show to discuss largemouth bass and walleye fishing in the Twin Cities area. His smallmouth bass photo was showcased as the May image in the 2011 North American Fisherman “Bass” Calendar.

In addition to his competitive achievements, Nam is passionate about introducing young people to the joys of fishing, offering them opportunities to learn and experience the sport firsthand.
