Lake X, Southwest Iowa
April 12-14, 2019
Grant Carston and I went on a short adventure to southwest Iowa to join Jay Suhsen and Todd Lewison for some phenomenal early season largemouth bass fishing from April 12-14. Jay had told us about this small lake that was loaded with some big fish and was it true. Biggest I caught was around 21 inches right from shore the very first evening of arriving. It was also my first Iowa fish. A day before we left Mother Nature decided to give us a final spring snowstorm of about 6-10 inches. It was nice to getaway from a long cold winter and finally catch some fish. For accommodations, it was a small comfortable cabin with two bunk beds, fridge, and a microwave…pretty bare bones but it worked for us four guys.
Definitely a memorable trip! This might be our annual tradition now.
Here is a video compilation of our adventure to Iowa for early season bass fishing this past weekend. Video is a little long but the ending is worth it. Enjoy the journey!
